Our Story

Mrigashirsha is the name of my dance school, inspired by the Asamyukta Hasta Mudra used in classical dance. The word means “deer's head” and symbolizes grace, elegance, and natural beauty.

I chose this name because of my deep love for hand gestures, which are the language of classical dance. I believe all my students are like little Mriga (deer)—full of energy, able to leap gracefully from one movement to another with joy.

At Mrigashirsha, we focus on nurturing this spirit while celebrating dance, discipline, and passion. Here, every dancer begins a journey of expression and devotion to Odissi.

About Us

At Mrigashirsha, we teach Odissi dance to children with care and dedication. Our students have the facility to appear for examinations under Pracheen Kala Kendra and earn recognized certificates. I believe in teaching in an amicable and supportive way, as I know that love for dance creates true learning. Along with technique, we focus on building expression, confidence, and stage presence. Our goal is to nurture every child’s talent and create a joyful space where they can grow as dancers.

Nrityaarambh

Nrityaarambh is the annual program of Mrigashirsha Dance School, beginning in 2025. It marks a new chapter for us as one of the biggest classical dance festivals, celebrating tradition, creativity, and passion. This inaugural edition is being beautifully captured by the renowned photographer Manas Babu from Bhubaneswar, making the event even more memorable.
